The Schneider Electric LC1K12004P72 is a TeSys K contactor, four-pole with four normally-open (4 NO) main contacts, controlled by a 230 V AC 50/60 Hz coil. It is rated for 20 A in AC-1 utilisation category at 690 V, which means it is designed for switching resistive loads — heaters, lighting banks, or transformer primaries — where the current inrush is low relative to the steady-state value. The 4 NO configuration gives you four independent power poles that close together, useful for switching multiple load circuits simultaneously or for single-phase applications needing double-pole isolation.
But the operational current (Ie) at 690 V AC-1 is also 20 A at ≤40 °C, derating to 16 A at 70 °C — so at elevated panel temperatures you lose 4 A of capacity. The rated breaking capacity is 110 A at 440 V, 80 A at 500 V, and 70 A at 660–690 V, confirming it can interrupt fault currents well above its continuous rating. For protection coordination, the associated fuse rating is 25 A gG or 25 A aM on the power circuit. The coil draws 30 VA inrush at 20 °C and holds at 4.5 VA, with a built-in bidirectional peak limiting diode suppressor — no external flyback diode needed across the coil. The control voltage limits are 0.8 to 1.15 Uc for operation and dropout between 0.2 and 0.75 Uc below 50 °C, so the coil will drop out reliably if the control supply sags below about 46 V AC.
Heat dissipation is 1.3 W, so thermal rise in a dense cabinet is manageable. The operating altitude is 2000 m without derating; above that, consult the thermal derating curve. Vibration resistance is 4 Gn closed, 2 Gn open across 5–300 Hz, and shock survival is 10–15 Gn depending on axis — adequate for industrial machinery but not marine deck mounting without additional damping.
