The Schneider Electric LC1K1601G7 is a TeSys K contactor, 3-pole with 3 NO main contacts and 1 NC auxiliary contact, rated 16 A in AC-3 utilisation category at up to 440 V and 120 V AC coil. It handles motor loads up to 7.5 kW at 380...415 V AC and 4 kW at 480 V AC, 50/60 Hz.
The 16 A rated operational current in AC-3 (motor starting) duty is the figure that governs motor switching — it is not the thermal current. For resistive loads (AC-1) the contactor can handle higher current, but for motor control, 16 A is the hard limit. The motor power ratings span 4 kW at 480 V up to 7.5 kW at 380...415 V; match the line voltage to the appropriate kW row. Short-time withstand current (Icw) is 115 A for 1 s on the power circuit, which gives some headroom for brief overloads or inrush. Heat dissipation is 1.3 W — negligible for panel thermal budgeting. Flame retardance meets UL 94 V1.
Integration notes
The 120 V AC coil is common in North American control circuits; verify coil suppression (RC snubber or varistor) if driving from a PLC output. The 1 NC auxiliary is wired as a mirror contact or status feedback.
