The LC1K16106K72 is a 3-pole TeSys K contactor rated for AC-3 duty at 16 A up to 440 V, with a 100 V AC coil and one normally open auxiliary contact built in. AC-3 is the motor-switching category per IEC 60947-4-1, so this rating directly governs inrush and breaking of squirrel-cage motors. Across the voltage range it handles motor loads from 4 kW at 480 V up to 7.5 kW at 380–415 V, making it a fit for common European and North American line voltages without oversizing.
Coil and thermal behaviour in the panel
The coil includes a built-in bidirectional peak-limiting diode suppressor, so no external flyback diode or RC snubber is needed across the coil terminals — one less component to mount and wire on the DIN rail. Heat dissipation is 1.3 W, low enough that multiple contactors can sit side by side without forced cooling in a standard IP2X enclosure. The 57 mm depth and 45 mm width keep the footprint compact for high-density panel layouts.
Short-circuit coordination and flame retardance
Rated short-time withstand current (Icw) is 115 A for 1 second on the power circuit, which supports selective coordination with upstream motor circuit protectors or fuses — the contactor can ride through a downstream fault long enough for the protective device to clear without welding its own contacts. The housing is V1 rated per UL 94, meaning burning stops within 30 seconds and does not drip flaming particles, a standard requirement for panel-mounted components in most industrial control panels.
