What it is and what it does
The LC3D80FE7 is a pre-wired star delta starter from the TeSys D range, built for motor starting duty. It carries three power poles, each with a normally open contact, rated for 80 A in AC-3 utilization category — the standard for squirrel-cage motor switching. The 115 V AC coil is integral to the assembly, so this is a drop-in replacement for a specific BOM line, not a field-configurable contactor kit.
Environmental and mechanical ratings
The front face carries IP2X finger protection per IEC 60529, which is standard for enclosed panel-mount gear. Pollution degree 3 means it tolerates conductive pollution in industrial atmospheres — no special coating needed for dry, non-condensing environments. The TH protective treatment per IEC 60068-2-30 covers damp heat cycling, so occasional condensation in a non-climate-controlled cabinet won't cause early failure. Flame retardance is V1 per UL 94, and the housing withstands 850 °C glow-wire per IEC 60695-2-1. Operating temperature spans -40 to 60 °C, with derating required above 60 °C up to 70 °C. Storage range is -60 to 80 °C. Maximum operating altitude is 3000 m without derating.
Mechanical endurance for the application
The starter is rated for vibration and shock in both open and closed contact states. Open contacts withstand 2 Gn vibration (5–300 Hz) and 8 Gn shock for 11 ms; closed contacts handle 3 Gn vibration and 10 Gn shock. These figures matter if the starter is mounted on a machine frame subject to impact or continuous vibration — a conveyor drive or press control panel, for example. The 3 x 3P pole arrangement means three separate power poles, each with three NO contacts, wired internally for star delta transition.
