Product identity and function
The Schneider Electric LC3F185M7A64 is a pre-wired TeSys F star delta starter, designed for motor control in AC-3 duty.
Rated motor power spans 90 kW at 220/230 V up to 185 kW at 440 V, with 160 kW at the common 380/400 V supply. This is the headline rating that determines motor frame size compatibility. The AC-3 category certifies switching of squirrel-cage motors during starting and plugging — the standard duty for a star delta starter. The unit carries a rated making capacity of 1850 A and a breaking capacity of 1480 A per IEC 60947-4-1. These figures govern the starter's ability to close onto and interrupt motor starting currents without contact welding or arc damage. For a 160 kW motor with a typical DOL starting current around 6x FLC (~1750 A), the making capacity provides adequate headroom. Rated insulation voltage is 1000 V per IEC 60947-4-1 and 1500 V per VDE 0110 Group C, meaning the internal clearances and creepage distances are certified for use on 690 V line-to-line systems with margin.
Control circuit and auxiliary contact configuration
The control circuit operates on 220/230 V AC 50/60 Hz with an operational range of 0.85 to 1.1 Uc and a dropout range of 0.35 to 0.55 Uc. Inrush power is 805 VA at 50 Hz and 970 VA at 60 Hz (cos φ 0.3). The auxiliary contact complement is factory-configured: KM1 star contactor carries 1 NC + 1 NO, KM2 line contactor carries 2 NC + 1 NO, and KM3 delta contactor carries 1 NC + 2 NO.
Mounting is plate-mount only — no DIN-rail option. The unit is pre-wired, reducing panel assembly time. Power connections accept lugs or ring terminals up to 150 mm², or busbars with a 25 x 3 mm cross-section via M8 bolted connections. Control circuit connections use screw clamp terminals accepting 1 to 4 mm² flexible or solid wire. Tightening torque is 18 N·m for power and 1.2 N·m for control. Dimensions are 525 mm wide, 235 mm deep, and 110 mm high. The IP20 front face protection (with shrouds) per IEC 60529 and VDE 0106 is suitable for enclosed panel installation only — not for washdown or outdoor environments.
Certified to IEC 60947-4-1, EN 60947-4-1, IEC 60947-1, EN 60947-1, and JIS C8201-4-1. These are the governing standards for contactors and motor-starters. The TH protective treatment indicates suitability for tropical/humid environments.
