The Schneider Electric TeSys F LC3F185P7A64 is a pre-wired star delta starter, purpose-built for motor control in the AC-3 utilisation category. It's rated for 185 A operational current at ≤440 V AC, which translates to 160 kW at 380/400 V AC and 185 kW at 440 V AC. The 230 V AC 50/60 Hz control circuit pulls 805 VA inrush at 50 Hz. This is a three-pole, three-contactor assembly with mechanical interlocking, so the star and delta contactors cannot close simultaneously — a hard requirement for preventing phase-to-phase shorts during transition.
The 185 A AC-3 rating is the motor-switching current, not a resistive-heat rating. AC-3 means it handles inrush during starting and breaks the motor at full load — the worst case for contact wear. The rated making capacity of 1850 A and breaking capacity of 1480 A (both per IEC 60947-4-1) tell you the contacts can close into and interrupt a stalled-rotor fault without welding or failing to clear. The mechanical durability of 10 Mcycles means the contactor block itself will outlast most applications; the electrical life will be lower and depends on switching frequency and load. The auxiliary contact complement is generous: 1 NC + 1 NO on the star contactor, 2 NC + 1 NO on the line contactor, and 1 NC + 2 NO on the delta contactor. That's enough for status feedback, interlocking, and a run signal without adding an external aux block. The control circuit voltage limits are 0.85...1.1 Uc for pick-up and 0.35...0.55 Uc for drop-out, so the coil holds in reliably down to about 195 V AC and drops out below about 126 V AC. The power circuit accepts lugs, ring terminals up to 150 mm², or busbars (25 x 3 mm cross-section) with M8 bolted connections. Control wiring uses screw clamp terminals accepting 1...4 mm² flexible or solid. Tightening torque is 1.2 N·m on the control circuit and 18 N·m on the power circuit — the power lugs need a torque wrench, not a screwdriver.
This is a plate-mount assembly, not DIN-rail. The footprint is 525 mm wide × 110 mm high × 235 mm deep. It's pre-wired internally, so the only field connections are the incoming line, motor leads, and control wires. The TH protective treatment indicates it's tropicalized for humidity and condensation.
The starter is designed and tested to IEC 60947-4-1, EN 60947-4-1, and JIS C8201-4-1 for contactors and starters. The rated insulation voltage is 1000 V per IEC 60947-4-1 and 1500 V per VDE 0110 group C. The associated fuse ratings are 315 A gG or 200 A aM at ≤440 V — use these for short-circuit coordination.
