The Schneider Electric TeSys F LC3F330E7A64 is a pre-wired star-delta starter, purpose-built for reducing inrush current during three-phase motor starting. It integrates three contactors (line, star, delta) with a mechanical interlock, pre-wired internally, so the panel builder gets a single unit to mount and connect rather than assembling three separate contactors and the interlock wiring. Rated at 330 A in AC-3 duty (motor switching) at ≤ 440 V, it handles motor loads up to 315 kW at 440 V AC, 280 kW at 380/400 V, or 160 kW at 220/230 V. The 48 V AC 50/60 Hz control coil is the standard for many industrial control circuits, and the pickup/drop-out limits (0.85...1.1 Uc operational, 0.35...0.55 Uc drop-out) mean it holds in reliably on a sagging line but drops out cleanly when the control signal is removed. The star-delta transition is timed by the built-in starting timer set to 30 s, with contactor operating times of 40...65 ms closing and 100...170 ms opening. This sequence is critical: the star contactor closes first, then after the timer delay, the star opens and the delta closes, all mechanically interlocked to prevent a phase-to-phase short.
The 330 A rated operational current (Ie) in AC-3 is the figure that governs motor duty — it is not a general-purpose resistive rating. AC-3 means switching of squirrel-cage motors: making during starting (up to 6× inrush) and breaking during running. The associated fuse ratings (500 A gG or 400 A aM at ≤ 440 V) provide the short-circuit protection the starter needs to coordinate with upstream devices. The insulation voltage rating is 1000 V (IEC 60947-4-1) or 1500 V (VDE 0110 Group C), so it is suitable for 690 V systems common in heavy industrial installations, not just 400 V. The operating altitude of 3000 m without derating covers most installations outside high-altitude mining or ski-lift applications. Mechanical durability of 10 Mcycles and a maximum operating rate of 2400 cycles/hour at 55 °C mean this starter is built for high-duty-cycle applications like conveyors, compressors, and pumps that cycle frequently. The TH protective treatment indicates it is tropicalized for humid or corrosive environments.
Mounting is plate-mount (not DIN rail), sized at 725 mm wide × 110 mm high × 276 mm deep. Power connections are via M10 bolted lugs accepting up to 240 mm² cable or 30 × 5 mm busbar. Control circuit terminals are screw-clamp, accepting 1...4 mm² flexible or solid wire. Tightening torque is 35 N·m on the power circuit and 1.2 N·m on the control circuit — a torque wrench is expected for the power connections. The pre-wired internal contactor assembly includes auxiliary contacts: 1 NC + 1 NO on the star contactor, 2 NC + 1 NO on the line contactor, and 1 NC + 2 NO on the delta contactor — enough for status feedback and interlocking without adding auxiliary blocks.
