Rated breaking capacity is 3200 A and rated making capacity is 4000 A, both conforming to IEC 60947-4-1 — these numbers tell you the starter can safely interrupt a locked-rotor fault and close onto a starting inrush without welding contacts. Mechanical durability is 10 million cycles, so it is built for high-cycle applications like conveyors or pumps that cycle frequently.
This is a plate-mounted assembly, not a DIN-rail snap-on. The footprint is substantial: 28.5 inches wide by 10.9 inches deep by 7.09 inches tall, so panel layout needs to account for the width and the M10 bolted power connections. Power circuit terminals accept bar or lug-ring terminations up to 150 mm². The front face carries IP20 protection with shrouds per IEC 60529 and VDE 0106, meaning finger-safe from the front once shrouded, but the back and sides are open to the enclosure.
Auxiliary contacts and control wiring
The built-in auxiliary contact configuration is specific to star-delta sequencing: the KM1 star contactor carries 1 NC + 1 NO, KM2 line contactor carries 2 NC + 1 NO, and KM3 delta contactor carries 1 NC + 2 NO. That is a total of 4 NC and 4 NO built in — enough for most interlocking and status feedback without adding external aux blocks. Control circuit wiring uses screw clamp terminals accepting 1 to 4 mm² flexible or solid wire, torqued to 1.2 N·m. The power circuit bolted connections require 35 N·m.
