The Schneider Electric LC3F400M7 is a pre-wired TeSys F star delta starter, designed for motor control in AC-3 utilisation category. Motor power ratings are voltage-dependent: 185 kW at 220/230 V AC, 315 kW at 380/400 V AC, 355 kW at 415 V AC, and 375 kW at 440 V AC, all at 50/60 Hz. The AC-3 category means it is rated for starting squirrel-cage motors and switching them off during running — the standard duty for a motor starter.
Rated making capacity is 4000 A and breaking capacity is 3200 A, both conforming to IEC 60947-4-1. The associated fuse rating is 500 A gG or 400 A aM at up to 440 V. For a star delta starter, this is a high-duty rating — suitable for frequent starting applications like conveyors or pumps that cycle often. The control circuit voltage limits are 0.85...1.1 Uc for operational pick-up and 0.35...0.55 Uc for drop-out, at 40...400 Hz and up to 55 °C. This means the coil holds in reliably down to about 187 V and drops out below about 127 V — a wide tolerance that handles brownout conditions on site. Rated insulation voltage is 1000 V per IEC 60947-4-1 and 1500 V per VDE 0110 Group C. This gives headroom for 690 V systems common in heavy industrial installations.
Physical integration and mounting
Mounting is plate-mount — no DIN rail. Dimensions are 28.5 in (725 mm) wide, 10.9 in (276 mm) deep, and 7.09 in (180 mm) high. This is a large assembly; plan for a dedicated sub-panel or backplate in the enclosure. The power circuit uses bolted connections with M10 bolts, accepting ring terminals up to 150 mm² or busbars 30 x 5 mm. Install in a clean, dry enclosure. The protective treatment is TH — tropicalized for humidity and fungus resistance. Power pole contact composition is 3 x 3 NO — nine normally-open main poles across the three contactors. Auxiliary contacts are pre-configured: 1 NC + 1 NO on the star contactor, 2 NC + 1 NO on the line contactor, and 1 NC + 2 NO on the delta contactor. This covers the standard interlocking and status feedback for a star delta start sequence without adding auxiliary blocks.
The LC3F400M7 complies with EN 60947-1, EN 60947-4-1, IEC 60947-4-1, IEC 60947-1, and JIS C8201-4-1. These are the core standards for low-voltage switchgear and motor starters — covering construction, performance, and test requirements for global acceptance.
