The Schneider Electric TeSys F LC3F400U7A64 is a pre-wired star delta starter for switching three-phase induction motors on a plate mount. Rated 400 A operational current (Ie) at ≤440 V in AC-3 duty, it handles motor starts up to 375 kW at 440 V AC 50/60 Hz. The 3 x 3P pole configuration with 3 NO main poles and the integrated auxiliary contact set (1 NO + 1 NC for the star contactor, 1 NO + 2 NC for the line contactor, 2 NO + 1 NC for the delta contactor) means the starter arrives ready to wire into a motor control centre without building out separate contactor assemblies. The 240 V AC 50/60 Hz control coil draws 1075 VA inrush and 15 VA hold-in power. Operating time is 40 to 65 ms for closing and 100 to 170 ms for opening, with a 30-second starting time for the star-delta transition.
Where it fits and key ratings
This is a plate-mounted assembly, not a DIN-rail snap-on device. Dimensions are 725 mm wide × 180 mm high × 276 mm deep. Power connections use M10 bolted lugs or bars up to 30 × 5 mm, accepting ring terminals up to 150 mm². Control wiring is via screw-clamp terminals accepting 1 to 4 mm² flexible or solid cable. The AC-3 utilisation category (Ie 400 A at ≤440 V) means the starter is rated for switching squirrel-cage motors — making and breaking currents during starting without welding contacts. Rated breaking capacity is 3200 A, and rated making capacity is 4000 A, both per IEC 60947-4-1. Associated fuse protection is 500 A gG or 400 A aM at ≤440 V. The IP20 front face (with shrouds) is typical for enclosed panel use, not open washdown environments. The control circuit operates reliably between 0.85 and 1.1 Uc (204 to 264 V AC) and drops out between 0.35 and 0.55 Uc (84 to 132 V AC). Maximum operating rate is 2400 cycles per hour at 55 °C. Heat dissipation is 14 W. Altitude derating applies above 3000 m.
Designed and tested to IEC 60947-1, IEC 60947-4-1, EN 60947-1, JIS C8201-4-1, and EN 60947-4-1. Rated insulation voltage (Ui) is 1000 V per IEC 60947-4-1 and 1500 V per VDE 0110 Group C. Mechanical robustness is specified for shock (15 Gn closed, 6 Gn open) and vibration (5 Gn closed, 1.5 Gn open, 5 to 300 Hz).
