What it is and what it does
The LP1D40004EW is a 4-pole contactor from the TeSys Deca range, rated for 60 A in AC-1 duty at 440 V with a 48 V DC coil. That AC-1 rating covers resistive loads — heaters, lighting banks, or transformer primaries — where the switching current stays close to the load current. For motor duty (AC-3, AC-3e, AC-4) the rated current will be lower; the spec table carries the exact figures for your load type.
Standards and environmental fit
The contactor is certified to EN 60947-1, IEC 60947-4-1, VDE 0660, JEM 1038, BS 5424, and NF C 63-110 — the full suite of industrial control-gear standards. That means it is accepted for panel builds in Europe, the UK, and markets following IEC or JEM norms. Fire resistance is tested to 850 °C per IEC 60695-2-1, and the enclosure material is rated V-1 per UL 94. Operates from -40 to 60 °C ambient (derated above 60 °C up to 70 °C), and stores from -60 to 80 °C. No derating needed up to 3000 m altitude. IP2X finger-safe protection on the contactor body — fine for enclosed panel mounting; not rated for washdown environments. Protective treatment is TH (pollution degree 3) per IEC 60068, so it handles the typical factory-floor atmosphere with conductive dust and occasional condensation. Shock and vibration ratings are given for both open and closed contactor states — useful when specifying for mobile or high-vibration equipment.
Switching timing and mounting
Non-overlap time between NC and NO contacts is 1.5 ms on both energisation and de-energisation. That is a standard safety interlock feature — ensures the break-before-make gap is wide enough to prevent a momentary short between contact sets in reversing or star-delta circuits. Mounts on a rail or plate; dimensions are 85 mm wide, 127 mm high, 182 mm deep. That depth is the body depth — factor in wiring space and any auxiliary block overhang when laying out the panel.
