The LP1K09008JD3 is a TeSys K contactor from Schneider Electric, a 4-pole (2 NO + 2 NC) device rated for 20 A in AC-1 utilisation category at ≤ 440 V, with a 12 V DC coil. It is designed for switching resistive loads in control panels and industrial machinery. The 20 A conventional free-air thermal current (Ith) at 50 °C and the 20 A rated operational current (Ie) at 690 V AC in AC-1 duty mean this contactor handles resistive heating loads like heater banks or lighting circuits up to that current. The AC-1 rating is the key selection parameter — it governs the continuous current the contacts can carry without derating for inductive motor inrush. Mounts on a plate or DIN rail, with a 45 mm width, 58 mm height, and 57 mm depth — fits standard 45 mm modular enclosure spacing. Screw-clamp terminals accept a Philips No 2 or flat Ø 6 mm screwdriver, torqued to 1.3 N·m.
The 12 V DC coil includes a built-in bidirectional peak limiting diode suppressor, so no external flyback diode is needed across the coil — saves a component and a wiring step. Coil energisation to NO closing takes 30…40 ms; de-energisation to NO opening takes 10 ms. The control circuit operates between 0.8 and 1.15 Uc and drops out between 0.1 and 0.75 Uc below 50 °C. Inrush power is 3 W at 20 °C; hold-in power consumption is also 3 W at 20 °C — the coil draws steady power once sealed, no spike after the initial pull-in.
Breaking capacity and protection
Rated breaking capacity reaches 110 A at 415 V and 440 V, 80 A at 500 V, and 70 A at 660…690 V, all conforming to IEC 60947. The rated making capacity is 110 A AC for the power circuit. For short-circuit protection, the associated fuse rating is 25 A gG or 25 A aM for the power circuit. Rated insulation voltage (Ui) is 690 V per IEC 60947-4-1, 600 V per UL 508 and CSA C22.2 No 14. Impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) is 8 kV, overvoltage category III — suitable for fixed-installation distribution panels where transient overvoltages from the mains are expected.
Certified to EN/IEC 60947-4-1, GB/T 14048.4, UL 60947-4-1, CSA C22.2 No 60947-4-1, and JIS C8201-4-1. Flame retardance meets V1 per UL 94 and Requirement 2 per NF F 16-101 and NF F 16-102. Safety reliability level: B10d = 1,369,863 cycles with nominal load and 20,000,000 cycles with mechanical load, per EN/ISO 13849-1.
Environmental limits
Operates at -25…50 °C ambient, stores at -50…80 °C. Maximum operating rate is 3600 cycles per hour. Mechanical durability is 10 million cycles.
