2900 W servo with speed-dependent torque
The SH31401P02A1000 is a three-phase servo motor from the SH3 series, delivering 2900 W continuous power. Its nominal speed shifts with supply voltage — 750 rpm on 115 V single-phase up to 3600 rpm on 480 V three-phase — so the torque output changes accordingly: 96.92 lbf.in (10.95 N.m) at the low-speed end, 74.3 lbf.in (8.4 N.m) at the high-speed end. The maximum mechanical speed is 4000 rpm. The motor carries an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder, giving position feedback without a homing cycle after power loss — useful on axes where the load position must be known on restart. No holding brake is fitted, so the load must hold itself or be braked externally.
Torque and current at stall
Continuous stall torque is 98.2 lbf.in (11.1 N.m) across the 115...480 V three-phase range, drawn at 7.8 A continuous stall current. Peak stall torque reaches 239.0 lbf.in (27 N.m) at up to 20.8 A Irms maximum current — this is the short-term overload capability for acceleration or overcoming friction. The torque constant is 1.43 N.m/A at 248 °F (120 °C) copper temperature, and the back EMF constant is 100 V/krpm at 68 °F (20 °C). These let the drive calculate the motor current needed for a given torque and the voltage feedback at speed.
Mounting and environmental sealing
The motor uses an international standard flange with a 5.5 in (140 mm) flange size and a 0.1 in (3.5 mm) centring collar depth. Shaft diameter is 0.9 in (24 mm), shaft length 2.0 in (50 mm), with a smooth shaft end — no keyway, so the coupling must clamp onto the shaft. IP rating depends on the shaft seal: IP54 at the shaft bushing without a seal ring, IP65 on the motor body and shaft bushing with the seal ring fitted. The electrical connection uses a straight connector. Cooling is by natural convection — no external fan, so the thermal budget depends on the mounting surface and airflow in the cabinet.
