140 mm flange, 24 mm shaft — the mechanical fit
The SH31401P11A1000 carries a 140 mm international standard flange with a 130 mm centring collar and 11 mm mounting holes. The shaft is 24 mm diameter by 50 mm long with a parallel key. That means it bolts directly to standard gearbox input flanges and accepts off-the-shelf couplings with a 24 mm bore. Overall length is 217.5 mm, and the centring collar depth is 3.5 mm. The straight connector exits axially, so plan for cable clearance behind the motor — no right-angle plug to save space.
Speed and torque — voltage-dependent, not fixed
This motor's nominal speed and torque shift with the supply voltage. At 115 V single-phase it makes 750 rpm and 10.95 N.m; at 230 V single-phase, 1500 rpm and 10.6 N.m; at 400 V three-phase, 3000 rpm and 9.2 N.m; at 480 V three-phase, 3600 rpm and 8.4 N.m. The continuous power rating is 2900 W, but nominal output power ranges from 860 W at 115 V up to 3170 W at 480 V. If you're running this on a 400 V drive, you get the full 2.9 kW at 3000 rpm. Peak stall torque is 27 N.m, continuous stall torque is 11.1 N.m. That's a 2.43x overload margin for acceleration. The maximum mechanical speed is 4000 rpm, giving headroom above the 3600 rpm nominal at 480 V.
Encoder and feedback — absolute, no homing needed
The encoder is an absolute single-turn SinCos Hiperface type. On power-up the drive knows the rotor position within one revolution — no homing sequence required for applications that don't need multi-turn position. The torque constant is 1.43 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, and the back EMF constant is 100 V/krpm at 20 °C. These are the numbers you enter into the drive's autotune routine.
Cooling and sealing — no fan, so watch the duty
Cooling is by natural convection only — no integrated fan. That means the continuous torque rating assumes free airflow around the motor body. In a confined cabinet or at low speeds, derate the continuous torque or add external forced air. The winding hot-spot limit is 130 °C. The IP rating depends on the shaft seal: IP54 without the shaft seal ring, IP65 with it fitted. The motor body itself is IP65-rated. If the application sees washdown or coolant spray, specify the seal ring. Maximum radial force is 1930 N at 1000 rpm, derating to 1340 N at 3000 rpm; axial force limit is 300 N. Belt-drive applications need to stay within these bearing load limits.
Current and braking — no holding brake fitted
Continuous stall current is 7.8 A; maximum current Irms is 20.8 A. The peak-to-continuous ratio is 2.67:1, which is typical for a servo motor. This motor ships without a holding brake — if the vertical load needs to be held at standstill, the drive's holding torque or an external brake must handle it. The number of motor poles is 5 — a 10-pole design electrically. This affects the drive's pole-pair setting and the speed feedback scaling.
