2900 W continuous power — sizing for the load
The SH31401P11A1100 delivers 2900 W continuous power, with nominal torque ranging from 8.4 N.m at 480 V three-phase up to 10.95 N.m at 115 V single-phase. The torque constant is 1.43 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, so the drive current loop must be tuned to this value for accurate torque control. Nominal speed varies by supply: 750 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 1500 rpm at 230 V single-phase, 3000 rpm at 400 V three-phase, and 3600 rpm at 480 V three-phase. The maximum mechanical speed is 4000 rpm — the drive's overspeed limit must be set below this.
Encoder feedback and IP65 sealing
The absolute single-turn SinCos Hiperface encoder provides position feedback on power-up without a homing sequence — critical for servo axes that must resume position after a power cycle. The straight electrical connector mates with standard Hiperface cabling. IP65 protection on both the motor body and shaft bushing (per IEC 60034-5) means this motor withstands washdown and dusty environments common in food processing, packaging, and material handling lines. Natural convection cooling keeps the design simple — no fan to clog or fail.
Mounting and mechanical interface
The motor mounts on an international standard flange with a 140 mm (5.5 in) flange size and 130 mm centring collar diameter. The shaft is 24 mm diameter with a parallel key, 50 mm shaft length, and 8 mm key width — a common interface for direct coupling to ball screws or timing belt pulleys.
Electrical parameters for drive selection
Stator resistance is 1.41 Ohm and stator inductance is 23.72 mH — these values set the electrical time constant and influence the drive's current regulator tuning. The back EMF constant is 100 V/krpm at 20 °C, which determines the bus voltage needed to reach rated speed. Continuous stall current is 7.8 A, with a maximum current Irms of 20.8 A. The drive must be sized to supply at least this peak current during acceleration or stall conditions. The peak stall torque is 27 N.m across the 115...480 V three-phase range.
