Multi-voltage speed-torque envelope
The SH31404P01A1100: This SH3 servo motor delivers rated torque across a wide supply range: at 400 V three-phase it produces 114.2 lbf·in (12.9 N·m) nominal torque at 3000 rpm, and at 480 V three-phase it delivers 98.2 lbf·in (11.1 N·m) at 3600 rpm. The continuous power output is 4040 W at 400 V and 4190 W at 480 V, so the motor can be wired into either a 400 V or 480 V line without derating the application — the torque curve shifts with voltage, but the power envelope stays within a few percent. Peak stall torque reaches 1167.4 lbf·in (131.9 N·m) across the three-phase range, giving headroom for acceleration and overload cycles. The continuous stall torque is 295.6 lbf·in (33.4 N·m) — the ratio between peak and continuous torque is about 4:1, which is typical for a servo motor sized for intermittent high-torque events like indexing or clamping.
Encoder and feedback for position loops
The absolute single-turn SinCos Hiperface encoder provides position feedback without a home cycle on power-up — the drive reads the absolute position from the encoder's single-turn count. This eliminates the need for a reference run after every power cycle, which matters on machines where the axis must hold position through a power loss or where homing is mechanically difficult. The torque constant is 1.57 N·m/A at 120 °C, and the back-EMF constant is 104 V/krpm at 20 °C. These two numbers let the drive engineer calculate the current needed for a given torque and the voltage the motor will generate at speed — critical for matching the drive's DC bus voltage and current rating to the motor's full-speed operating point.
Mechanical fit and environmental sealing
The motor flange is 140 mm (5.5 in) with a centring collar diameter of 130 mm (5.1 in) and four mounting holes on an 11 mm diameter bolt circle — this is the standard IEC 140 mm flange pattern, so it bolts directly to a matching gearbox or machine frame without an adapter plate. The shaft is 24 mm diameter with a 50 mm smooth length, and the overall body length is 382.5 mm (15.06 in). IP65 protection on both the motor body and the shaft bushing means the motor withstands washdown and dust ingress per IEC 60034-5 — suitable for food processing, packaging, or any line where hosed cleaning is routine. The natural convection cooling (no fan) keeps the envelope clean and avoids the noise and maintenance of a forced-air blower.
