The Schneider Electric TA1AD4L8004TPE is an 800 A automatic transfer switch from the TransferPacT range, built to IEC 60947-6-1 for change-of-supply-source applications. Rated operational current is 800 A at 400 V AC 50/60 Hz, with an AC-33B utilization category covering motor, resistive, and mixed loads including inrush — the rating that governs real-world switching duty, not just the thermal continuous number. Four poles (4P) with mechanical interlocking ensure the normal and emergency sources never close simultaneously. The PC-class switch-disconnector is rated for isolation, with a visible contact position indicator and three contact positions (I, 0, II). Lockout provision in OFF position via padlock.
Withstand and making capacity — selectivity headroom
Short-time withstand current (Icw) is 50 kA for 0.5 s and 70 kA for 0.1 s, giving the coordination engineer room to size upstream protection for selective tripping. Short-circuit making capacity (Icm) reaches 105 kA for the switch-disconnector alone, or 154 kA with an upstream protection circuit breaker. Rated impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) is 12 kV on the switch, 6 kV on the controller.
