Controller overview for HVAC and pumping lines
This Schneider Modicon M172 TM172PDG42S is a programmable controller with 42 I/O: 12 analog inputs, 12 digital inputs, 12 digital outputs (mix of SPST/SPDT relays and solid-state SSR), and 6 analog outputs, specifically designed for HVAC and pumping applications. It includes an Ethernet port for Modbus TCP and BACnet IP with a built-in webserver, two RS485 ports for Modbus serial or BACnet MS/TP, a CAN port, and USB (host and device). A backlit LCD (128x64) gives local display for status or menus without a separate HMI. Runs on 24 V AC/DC (24 V +/-10% AC or 20-38 V DC), drawing up to 15 W. Mounts on a panel or DIN rail, IP20, with accessories available. Complies with EN/IEC 60730, UL94 V0 (enclosure material), and the Low Voltage Directive.
Digital inputs are sink or source (positive/negative) at 24 V AC/DC, 2.5 mA draw. Digital outputs are split: 5 relay SPST (shared common), 3 relay SPST (independent), 2 relay SPDT (shared common), plus 2 solid-state isolated SSR at 0.5 A each. Relay outputs rated up to 3 A SPST. Analog inputs support NTC/PTC, Pt1000, 0-10 V, 0-5 V (abs or ratiometric), and 0/4-20 mA. Inputs are configurable by pair with 10 kOhm impedance. Analog outputs: 4 voltage 0-10 V, plus 2 configurable as 4-20 mA, 0-10 V, or PWM (2 kHz). Built-in real-time clock maintains time at -20 to 55 °C ambient. Pollution degree 2, overvoltage category II. Sensor power: 5 V DC 50 mA and 24 V DC 150 mA from the controller.
This is a genuine Schneider Electric part, part of the Modicon M171/M172 range.
