Panel fit and mounting
The TM258LF42DT4LS0: The controller measures 9.4 in wide by 3.9 in tall by 3.3 in deep (237.5 mm × 99 mm × 85 mm) and snaps onto a symmetrical DIN rail. That depth leaves room for wiring ducts and finger-safe covers in a standard 8-inch-deep enclosure.
I/O complement and signal types
The TM258LF42DT4LS0 carries 42 discrete I/O: 10 fast inputs (200 kHz counting), 12 standard inputs, 4 regular inputs, 12 source outputs, and 4 fast outputs. Input logic is configurable as sink or source, and the 4 mA per-channel draw at 24 VDC is well within a standard sensor supply budget. Four analogue inputs accept 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, or ±10 V, giving flexibility for pressure transmitters, flow meters, or temperature transducers without an external signal conditioner. Eight of the fast inputs can serve as high-speed counters at up to 200 kHz, suitable for encoder feedback or flow-meter pulse accumulation.
Communications and fieldbus
Two CANopen ports support baud rates from 10 kbit/s (5000 m) up to 1 Mbit/s (13.1 ft), covering both long-distance sensor networks and high-speed drive links. The Ethernet port provides network status and activity LEDs for quick link diagnostics.
Data retention and real-time clock
Retain and retain-persistent variables are backed by a CR2477M Renata lithium cell, rated for 1.5 years of data hold. The RTC drifts less than 30 s/month without user calibration and ≤6 s/month with calibration — enough for time-stamped alarms and batch logging without an external time source.
Compliance and approvals
The controller carries CE marking and is listed under UL 508, CSA C22.2 No 142, and CSA C22.2 No 213, with IEC 61131-2 compliance. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 60664 covers most industrial control panels. Surge withstand is rated at 0.5 kV differential mode and 1 kV common mode per EN/IEC 61000-4-5.
