What it is and what it does
This XS612B4PAM12 from the XS6 series is a shielded inductive proximity sensor in a cylindrical 17 mm brass body with nickel plating. It senses ferrous targets up to 8 mm (adjustable down to 4 mm) and switches a PNP transistor output in normally open mode. Supply range 12–48 V DC, three-wire with an M12 connector (4 pins).
Where the ratings matter
IP67 and IP69K sealing means this sensor survives both temporary submersion and high-pressure hot-water washdown cycles — essential for food, beverage, and wastewater environments where paper IP ratings don't hold. Brass housing with nickel plating resists corrosion from moisture, mild chemicals, and hydrogen sulfide off-gassing in lift stations. Onboard protection against overload, short circuit, and reverse polarity covers the most common field wiring errors — no extra protection module needed between the sensor and the PLC input card.
