XS8D1A1MAL2 has a bigger 80 mm body, 60 mm sensing distance, and comes with a bare-wire cable instead of a connector. No green LED, no IP69K — IP68 instead. So it's not a blind swap: different mounting cutout, different connection method, different clean-in-place tolerance. If your panel is drilled for the 40 mm cube and wired for a U20 connector, XS8C2A1MAU20 is the correct number.
