Integrator's note on the DS35-B15521
The DS35-B15521 is a Dx35-series red laser distance sensor from Banner Engineering, rated for 50 mm to 12 m sensing distance with a 4.5 ms response time. That speed suits it for high-speed part-present detection or profiling on a conveyor — at 12 m range, it can see across a wide aisle or into a deep bin. The 2 x push-pull output configures as NPN or PNP (selectable), which simplifies integration with either sinking or sourcing PLC inputs without a level-shifter. Power is 12–30 VDC, so it runs off a standard 24 VDC panel supply. The M12 5-pin male connector (standard A-coded) mates with common quick-disconnect cables; no hardwiring into the sensor head, which speeds replacement on a line. IP65/IP67 means it handles washdown and dust — suitable for food, beverage, or automotive body shops where hosing is routine.
Dimensions: 32 mm wide, 59 mm high, 43 mm deep. The 32 mm width is the critical panel-fit dimension — it matches the standard 30–35 mm slot in most sensor-mount brackets (e.g., the Banner SMB-series). The 59 mm height means it clears a standard 80 mm profile rail or machine frame. Mounting holes are on the rear face; no side-mount adapter needed for a typical bracket.
Output and wiring considerations
The 2 x push-pull output is a single output channel but dual-polarity — it sources current when the PNP side is active and sinks when the NPN side is active. For a commissioning engineer: wire pin 4 (BN) to the load common, and pin 2 (WH) to the PLC input. The M12 pinout follows the standard 5-pin A-coded assignment (1: BN +VDC, 2: WH output, 3: BU 0 VDC, 4: BK output, 5: GY not used). No special termination required beyond a shielded cable if running near VFDs.
