Switching frequency and timing
Maximum switching rate depends on duty: 1,000 operations per hour in AC-1 resistive load, 750/h in AC-2 or AC-3 motor duty, 250/h in AC-4 plugging/reversing — the arc energy in AC-4 limits the mechanical pace. Arcing time runs 10 to 15 ms; DC operate time is 7 to 13 ms — fast enough for most sequence logic, but the DC coil's dropout time is longer than an AC coil, so factor that into safety-circuit response if you're using the NC mirror contact. Mechanical endurance typical is 30 million operations — the contacts will wear out before the mechanism does in most cycling applications.
