What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1010-3ED36-0AH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) for line protection, rated 100 A at 40 °C and carrying a 75.6 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V. It uses a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release — the thermal element handles overloads, the magnetic element handles short-circuits — and is designed for fixed installation in distribution panels where selectivity and SCCR headroom matter. The 800 V rated insulation voltage supports 480Y/277 V and 600 V delta systems. No communication module, no ground-fault monitoring, no undervoltage release on this variant — it is a straight feeder or branch breaker. The auxiliary switch block includes 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ), enough for remote status on a critical load.
Current derating and thermal limits
The 100 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C. Above that it derates: 98 A at 55 °C, 96 A at 60 °C, 94 A at 65 °C, 91 A at 70 °C. In a sealed, uncooled enclosure that hits 60 °C ambient, figure 96 A continuous — not 100 A. The 25 W maximum power loss at rated load matters for enclosure heat rise; a panel with multiple breakers needs that sum in the thermal budget.
Interrupting ratings across voltages
The 75.6 kA at 240 V drops to 52.5 kA at 415 V, then 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. On a 480 V system the 32 kA figure governs — verify the available fault current at the panel bus. The 7.5 kA at 690 V limits this breaker to low-fault 690 V applications.
Physical fit and panel integration
Width 76.2 mm (3 in), height 130 mm (5.12 in), depth 70 mm (2.76 in). Three-pole MCCB in a standard 3-inch-wide footprint — fits most DIN-rail or panel-mount SENTRON bases. Verify the mounting base (3VA10103ED360AA0 is the supplied basic switch) and whether the auxiliary switch block adds depth beyond the 70 mm.
