160 A MCCB with TM240 release for line protection
It carries a 160 A rating at 40 °C across three poles, with the TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release handling the trip curve — the thermal element protects against sustained overloads, the magnetic element clears short-circuit faults. The 187 kA interrupting rating at 240 V gives substantial fault-current headroom for high-capacity distribution panels; at 415 V it still interrupts 121 kA, and at 690 V it holds 17 kA.
Current derating and thermal budget
Rated current holds flat at 160 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then begins a gradual derating curve: 156 A at 55 °C, 151 A at 60 °C, 147 A at 65 °C, and 142 A at 70 °C. Maximum power loss is 33 W. For a panel designer, that means the breaker can sit in a 50 °C enclosure without losing ampacity — above that, the derating matters for wire sizing and thermal coordination inside the gland plate.
