The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2140-7JP32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 40 A continuous at ambient temperatures from 40 °C up to 70 °C with no derating — meaning it holds its full 40 A rating across the typical panel interior range, so you don't have to oversize for heat buildup inside the enclosure. The interrupting ratings climb to 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, and 187 kA at 500 V — numbers that place it in the high-fault-current class, suited for main or feeder positions where available fault current is substantial. At 690 V it still clears 3.7 kA.
Trip unit and protection logic
It uses the ETU550 electronic trip unit, which supports adjustable N-conductor protection (OFF, 40 % to 160 % of the phase setting) — useful for panels feeding unbalanced loads or where the neutral conductor needs its own pickup curve.
