MCCB for 60 A feeder and branch protection
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA4160-5ED34-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded-case circuit breaker rated 60 A continuous at 40 °C, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic trip unit that provides fixed instantaneous pickup at 600 A (10× In). The 85 kA at 240 V is the headline number for panel builders coordinating with a transformer-fed 240 V delta secondary; the 35 kA at 480 V still exceeds typical 22–25 kA SCCR requirements for motor control centers and distribution panels. The TM210 release is non-adjustable on the magnetic element — instantaneous trip is fixed at 600 A — so selectivity with downstream 10–15 kA rated breakers depends on the thermal curve overlap.
The breaker's continuous current derates linearly from 60 A at 40 °C to 53 A at 70 °C (ambient inside the enclosure). For a panel that runs at 50 °C — common in non-conditioned industrial spaces — the usable rating drops to 58 A. That 2 A loss matters when sizing for a continuous 60 A load; you either accept the 58 A ceiling or move to the next frame size. Mounting dimensions are 76.2 mm wide × 129.4 mm high × 75.1 mm deep — a standard 3-inch-wide footprint that fits most DIN-rail or panel-mount MCCB enclosures without adapter plates.
