Line protection breaker — 160 A, 4-pole, TM210 release
The SENTRON 3VM1116-4ED42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 160 A continuous current, fitted with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It's designed for line protection duty — meaning it sits upstream protecting feeders and distribution, not a specific motor or load group. Breaking capacity runs 121 kA at 240 V AC, 76 kA at 415 V, and 53 kA at 440 V — numbers that put it in the high-interrupting range for a 160 A frame. At 500 V it still holds 11.9 kA, so it handles most industrial distribution panels without needing a current-limiting upstream device.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The 160 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C. Above that it derates gradually — 158 A at 55 °C, 155 A at 60 °C, 153 A at 65 °C, and 150 A at 70 °C. That's a shallow curve, so you won't lose much headroom in a warm enclosure, but if the panel ambient runs above 50 °C, the continuous current drops a few amps per 5 °C step. Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 101.6 mm wide, and 130 mm tall — a compact footprint for a 160 A 4-pole MCCB. Front face carries IP40 protection, so it's fine inside a closed panel; not rated for washdown or outdoor exposure without an enclosure.
