Line protection MCCB with TM210 release
The SENTRON 3VM1163-3ED42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection. Its TM210 thermal-magnetic release provides adjustable overload response up to 630 A and fixed short-circuit protection — a common choice for feeder and distribution panels where coordination studies set the trip curve. Continuous current holds at 63 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates linearly to 58 A at 70 °C. That means the breaker delivers its full nameplate rating across typical panel ambient conditions without a sizing penalty. Breaking capacity reaches 76 kA at 240 V AC, 53 kA at 415 V, and 32 kA at 440 V. At 500 V it still interrupts 12 kA — enough for most industrial low-voltage distribution boards where the available fault current is known and coordinated.
Mounting and panel fit
Front face carries IP40 protection — suitable for enclosed panel mounting where tools or fingers won't contact live parts. Dimensions are 101.6 mm wide, 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep, fitting standard MCCB panel cutouts and busbar spacing for 4-pole devices.
Electrical ratings and application context
Rated insulation voltage is 690 V AC, with a maximum operational voltage of 500 V DC. Operating temperature range spans -25 °C to 70 °C, with storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power dissipation is 17 W — a factor for thermal management in densely packed enclosures. No communication function, no ground-fault monitoring, and no neutral protection integrated. The TM210 release is field-adjustable for the long-time pickup (Ir) via the front dial, but short-time and instantaneous settings are fixed — a consideration when coordination with downstream breakers requires a selective trip band.
