What this breaker is and what it does
The Siemens 3VM1163-5EE42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker from the 3VM1 IEC frame 160 series, rated at 63 A continuous current with a TM220 thermal-magnetic release. The 'M' breaking capacity class delivers an ultimate breaking capacity Icu of 55 kA at 415 V AC, which means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without welding contacts or cascading failure upstream — sized for panelboard and distribution applications where high fault current is a given. The TM220 release provides adjustable overload protection (Ir) from 44 A to 63 A, matching the full In range, and a fixed short-circuit protection setting Ii = 10 × In. The N conductor is unprotected, common for 3-phase + N distribution where the neutral is not switched or protected. A nut keeper kit is included for panel mounting.
