1-pole B-curve 50 A — what the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens 5SN4150-6CN is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker (MCB) with a B tripping characteristic, rated 50 A at 230/400 V AC. The B-curve means it trips magnetically at 3 to 5 times rated current — suited for resistive and general-purpose loads where inrush stays moderate, not for motor starts that draw higher peaks. Breaking capacity is 10 kA per EN 60898, which certifies it for residential and commercial distribution boards where the prospective fault current at the panel does not exceed that level.
DIN-rail footprint and panel integration
Single modular width unit at 18 mm, depth 76 mm, height 90 mm. Occupies one position on a standard DIN rail. Installation depth of 70 mm leaves clearance behind the rail for wiring. Accepts solid conductors up to 25 mm² — sufficient for a 50 A feed. Mounting position is unrestricted; the breaker can be oriented any way in the enclosure without derating. IP20 with connected conductors, so it belongs inside a closed panel, not in a washdown zone.
Environmental and compliance notes
Halogen-free and silicon-free construction. Rated for ambient temperatures from -40 °C to +75 °C, with a humidity ceiling of 95 % at 55 °C. Overvoltage category III, pollution degree 2 — standard for fixed-installation distribution boards. Sealable design allows the installer to lock the toggle position after commissioning.
