RCCB for branch-circuit ground-fault protection
The Siemens 5SV3616-6 is a 2-pole residual-current circuit breaker (RCCB) from the SENTRON family, rated 63 A continuous at 40-55 °C with a 300 mA Type A trip threshold. Type A detects sinusoidal AC and pulsating DC residual currents — the standard for circuits feeding single-phase rectified loads like switching power supplies, VFDs, and LED drivers. Instantaneous (short-time delayed: no) response clears ground faults within the 10 kA short-circuit current rating (SCCR) without upstream coordination. Mounts on DIN rail (REG), occupies 2 modular width units (36 mm), and accepts top or bottom line feed.
Thermal derating and enclosure fit
Full 63 A rating holds through 55 °C ambient; at 65 °C it derates to 56.96 A, at 70 °C to 48.2 A. The 36 mm width (2 MW) fits standard 18 mm/module DIN-rail enclosures. IP20 with conductors connected and distribution board installed — panel builders must account for the 70 mm installation depth when sizing gland plates and cover clearance. Silicon-free construction suits coating-sensitive environments.
