What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SV3616-6KL is a 2-pole RCCB from the SENTRON series, rated 63 A at 50 Hz with a 300 mA residual trip threshold. It is a Type A device, detecting sinusoidal AC and pulsating DC fault currents.
Ratings that decide the fit
The 63 A rating holds continuously from 40 °C through 55 °C without derating; at 65 °C it drops to 56.96 A, and at 70 °C to 48.2 A. That thermal curve matters if this RCCB lives in a crowded enclosure or near a heat source — at 65 °C ambient you lose roughly 10 % of the headroom. The short-circuit current rating is 10 kA per IEC 61008-1, but the Icn according to EN 60898 is 0.8 kA. That split is common for RCCBs — the 10 kA figure is the conditional short-circuit rating with an upstream backup fuse or MCB; the 0.8 kA Icn is the rated breaking capacity without backup. In practice, coordinate this RCCB with a 10 kA MCB upstream to realize the full SCCR. The permissible I²t is 110 000 A²s, and the let-through current is rated at 7 100 kA — that last figure looks like a data artifact (likely 7.1 kA peak let-through), so treat it as the peak let-through under test conditions.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto a DIN rail (REG) and occupies 2 modular width units (36 mm total width). Mounting position is any. Depth is 70 mm.
