Rated for continuous duty at full load
The Siemens 5SV3616-6BA is a 2-pole SENTRON RCCB rated 63 A continuous from 40 °C through 60 °C, derating to 56.96 A at 65 °C and 48.19 A at 70 °C. That means it carries its full 63 A rating in most panel environments without derating — only above 60 °C do you need to account for the thermal curve. The 300 mA Type A trip characteristic covers pulsating DC fault currents up to 6 mA smooth DC superimposed, which is the standard for modern electronics-fed circuits (variable-frequency drives, switched-mode power supplies, UPS systems). The 10 kA short-circuit current rating (SCCR) at 230/400 V AC means it safely interrupts fault currents up to that level without upstream breaker coordination issues in most distribution boards.
Panel integration and wiring
Snaps onto standard DIN rail (REG), occupies 2 width units (36 mm), and accepts solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 mm² up to 35 mm² — covers everything from small control-circuit tails to main feeder cables. The 70 mm depth matches standard distribution board cutouts; supply can enter from top or bottom. IP20 with the distribution board installed and conductors connected, so it's not for wet environments but fine inside a closed panel. Ambient range -25 to +45 °C, storage -40 to +75 °C.
