Active production, dual-standard breaking capacity
The 5SY4340-5: Breaking capacity is specified under three standards: 10 kA per EN 60898-1, 15 kA per IEC 60947-2, and 15 kA at DC per IEC 60947-2. For UL 1077 applications the rating is 5 kA. The 15 kA figure under IEC 60947-2 gives headroom for industrial panel SCCR requirements where the fault current at the board exceeds the residential 10 kA ceiling. Rated operational voltage is 400 V AC (single-phase or multi-phase operation up to 440 V) and 60 V DC (maximum 72 V DC). The 3-pole design switches all three phases simultaneously; neutral conductor switching is not provided.
Characteristic A tripping, physical fit, and environmental limits
Tripping characteristic A provides a narrow magnetic trip window — typically 2 to 3 times rated current — suited for protecting semiconductor circuits or long cable runs where standard B or C curves would allow damaging overcurrents to persist. This is the defining selection parameter for this breaker: if the load is resistive or electronic with low inrush, characteristic A avoids nuisance trips that a C-curve would cause.
Sourcing and compliance documentation
The sealable design (padlockable toggle) supports lockout/tagout procedures required by safety audits. Combined top and bottom terminals simplify daisy-chaining in distribution boards. Sourced to order against RFQ through independent distribution channels. For volume or framework agreements, request a formal quotation specifying the BOM quantity and required delivery window.
