What this MCB is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 5SY6632-6 is a 4-pole (3P+N) miniature circuit breaker rated 32 A at AC, with a B tripping characteristic. It's built for final-subcircuit protection in commercial and industrial panels, switching the neutral conductor as well as the three phases. The B-curve means it trips between 3 and 5 times rated current — a good fit for resistive and general-purpose loads where inrush isn't extreme. Dual-rated at 6 kA per IEC/EN 60898-1 and 15 kA per IEC 60947-2 / UL1077, so it covers both domestic-standard and industrial-breaking-capacity specs on the same device.
What the ratings mean for your panel
The 32 A rating holds at 35 °C ambient; at 40 °C it derates to 30.72 A, at 45 °C to 30.08 A, at 50 °C to 29.41 A, and at 55 °C to 28.74 A. That derating curve is what you size against if the breaker sits in a warm enclosure — don't just read the 32 A label. The 6 kA breaking capacity under IEC 60898-1 is the standard for domestic and light commercial distribution boards; the 15 kA under IEC 60947-2 is the industrial rating, so this one part can serve either spec without a separate high-fault version. Pollution degree 3 and overvoltage category III mean it's rated for the typical industrial control-panel environment — not just clean, climate-controlled rooms.
Mounting and integration
The 5SY6632-6 snaps onto DIN rail via the quick-assembly system, occupying 4 modular-width units (72 mm wide). Mounting position is any — vertical, horizontal, upside down — which simplifies panel layout when space is tight. Depth is 76 mm (70 mm installation depth behind the panel face). The combined terminal at top and bottom accepts both busbar and cable, and the unit is sealable for tamper-proof installations. IP20 with connected conductors — standard for enclosed distribution boards, not for wet locations.
