Drive selection memo — FRN0006G2S-4GU
The Fuji Electric FRN0006G2S-4GU is a FRENIC-Eco series variable frequency drive sized for a 3 hp motor on a 460V AC three-phase supply. Maximum output current is 5.5 A, with an output frequency range of 0.1 to 120 Hz — suitable for variable-torque HVAC loads like fans and pumps where the 50% starting torque at 1 Hz is enough to break away a centrifugal impeller without oversizing. Input voltage range is 380V-480V AC +10% / -15%, so it holds regulation through the brown-end dips common on utility feeds. The NEMA 1 enclosure is open-style for panel mounting — no washdown rating, so keep it inside a dry cabinet.
Protection and I/O complement
Built-in protection covers motor thermal overload, drive thermal overload, overvoltage, undervoltage, phase failure, phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground short circuit, and over-braking — enough to meet the fault-coverage expectations of a UL508C-listed panel. No brake chopper included, but dynamic braking is enabled via the DC bus terminals if an external resistor is added. I/O complement: 7 digital inputs, 3 analog inputs, 5 digital outputs, 2 analog outputs. Accepts remote contact closure for start/stop, and the keypad offers LCD/LED display of motor speed, output frequency, current, voltage, alarm codes, and function parameters. Control is via keypad or remote, with variable-frequency control method.
Compliance and physical fit
Certified to UL508C (power conversion equipment), CSA C22.2 No.14, and EN50178-1997 (electronic equipment for power installations). These cover North American and European installation codes — the drive is accepted in UL-listed panels and CE-marked machinery without additional component-level approvals. Physical dimensions: 10-1/4 in height, 5-7/8 in width, 6-3/8 in depth. Blue heat-sink style. Open enclosure means no integral disconnects or bypass — plan for external branch-circuit protection and a separate bypass contactor if the spec calls for hand-off-auto.
