Drive selection memo
The Fuji Electric FRN0060G2S-4GU is a FRN series AC drive rated for 60 A maximum output current and 40 hp at 380-480V AC three-phase input. This places it in the mid-power band for the series, suited for 30-40 hp induction motors on pumps, fans, conveyors, and compressors where constant or variable torque is required. Output frequency spans 0 to 500 Hz, which covers standard 50/60 Hz motors and extends into high-speed spindle or centrifuge applications. Starting torque is rated at 180%, enough to break away loaded conveyors or high-inertia fans without oversizing the drive. An Ethernet port is included on the drive, enabling direct connection to plant networks for monitoring and parameter access without an external communication module.
I/O and control architecture
The drive provides (3) analog inputs, (11) digital inputs, (5) analog outputs, and (6) digital outputs. This I/O count supports multi-speed presets, PID feedback from a 4-20 mA transducer, and status feedback to a PLC without an expansion card for most applications. Control is via the keypad with an LCD/LED display that shows motor speed, output current, output frequency, and output voltage. The stop key can be locked out to prevent unauthorized shutdown during commissioning. Dynamic braking is built in, though a brake chopper is not included—an external braking resistor must be added for vertical loads or rapid deceleration profiles.
Compliance and approvals
The FRN0060G2S-4GU carries UL 508C, EN 61800-5-1:2007, and CSA C22.2 No.14 approvals. These cover safety of adjustable-speed drive systems and panel-mounted power conversion equipment for North American and European installations.
Mounting and environment
The drive is an open-enclosure, IP20-rated unit with a compact/heat sink style. It is designed for panel mounting in a clean, dry electrical enclosure where the heat sink can dissipate into the cabinet air or through a gland plate. Overall dimensions are 15-3/4 in high, 9-7/8 in wide, 7-5/8 in deep. Input frequency is 50/60 Hz, making the drive suitable for global line supplies. The input voltage range of 380 to 480V AC covers 400V and 460V nominal systems without reconfiguration.
