What it is and what it does
The Fuji Electric FRN0088G2S-2GU is a FRENIC-Eco series variable frequency drive sized for 30 hp motor loads, delivering 88 A maximum output current from a 208V AC three-phase input (200-240V AC +10% / -15% range). Output voltage goes up to 230V AC, frequency range 0.1 to 120 Hz. It's a no-bypass, open-enclosure drive rated NEMA 1 — meaning it's built for indoor panel mounting where drips and falling dirt are a concern, but not for washdown or outdoor exposure.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 88 A output current at 30 hp is the headline number for sizing. That's the continuous rating — if your motor nameplate says 85 A FLA, this drive has headroom. The 50% starting torque at 1 Hz tells you it handles breakaway loads without a speed sensor; variable torque application (pumps, fans, compressors in HVAC) is exactly what this class is for. Protection coverage is thorough: drive thermal overload, motor thermal overload, overvoltage, undervoltage, phase failure, and phase-to-phase or phase-to-ground short circuit are all built in. No brake chopper inside — if you need dynamic braking for vertical loads or fast stops, you'll add an external chopper and resistor.
Controls, I/O, and integration
Control is via keypad or remote contacts — accepts analog and digital input signals. It has 7 digital inputs, 3 analog inputs, 5 digital outputs, and 2 analog outputs. The LCD/LED display shows motor speed with percent, alarm codes, menu, function codes, output frequency, current, and voltage. No Ethernet port onboard, so if you need network control (Modbus TCP, PROFINET), you'll add an option card or use the remote contact interface. Dimensions: 15-3/4 in high, 9-7/8 in wide, 8-1/2 in deep — plan your panel layout accordingly.
