Drive Selection Memo — FRN600AR1S-4U
The Fuji FRN600AR1S-4U is a FRENIC-HVAC series variable frequency drive rated for 600 HP on a 3-phase 460 VAC supply, in a UL open-type enclosure. This is the high-horsepower end of the HVAC-focused line, sized for large centrifugal fans, pumps, and compressor trains in commercial or industrial building systems.
What the Ratings Mean for Fit
At 600 HP and 460 VAC three-phase, this drive is sized for a motor full-load current around 720–770 A depending on efficiency class — typical for a 500–600 HP IEC/NEMA frame induction motor driving a large fan or pump. The UL open-type construction means it ships without an enclosure; you provide the panel or cabinet, sized for the drive's heat dissipation and the branch-circuit protection required by NEC Article 430. The FRENIC-HVAC series is purpose-built for variable-torque loads — centrifugal fans, pumps, and compressors — where the torque demand drops with the square of speed. That makes the drive's overload capability and starting profile different from a constant-torque or heavy-duty industrial drive. If you are replacing a general-purpose drive on a constant-torque load (conveyor, extruder), verify the duty cycle against the FRENIC-HVAC's variable-torque rating.
Integration Notes
Mounts on a backplate or in a ventilated enclosure — the UL open type expects the installer to manage airflow and clearance per the drive's thermal dissipation. Branch-circuit protection: sized per NEC 430.122 for the drive's input rating. The FRENIC-HVAC series supports the standard Modbus RTU on the RJ45 port; optional fieldbus cards (BACnet, LonWorks) slot into the option bay for BMS integration.
