What it is and what it does
The FSVEDY12-SYYYB-N is a transit-time, clamp-on flow meter designed for noninvasive liquid flow measurement — the transducers clamp onto the outside of the pipe, so there is no wetted part, no pressure drop, and no process interruption to install or maintain. Transit-time technology works by sending ultrasonic pulses diagonally across the pipe; the difference in travel time upstream vs downstream is proportional to flow velocity, which makes it well suited for clean liquids with few suspended solids or bubbles.
Deployment context
Because the meter clamps onto the pipe exterior, installation does not require cutting the line or shutting down flow — a practical advantage for retrofitting existing piping in water treatment, HVAC, or process skids where welding or flanging would be disruptive.
