The 50 ms sampling speed means it reads the input and updates the output every 50 milliseconds, which is fast enough to catch thermal transients in a plastic extruder barrel or a reflow oven zone without overshoot. The self-tuning algorithm auto-adjusts PID parameters on startup, so you don't need to sit through a manual Ziegler-Nichols cycle.
