Controller function and fit
The PXR3-RAY2-5BTA1 is a 1/32 DIN temperature and process controller from Fuji Electric's PXR3 series, featuring self-tuning PID and 16 ramp/soak segments for multi-step thermal profiling.
The 1/32 DIN form factor (48 x 24 mm panel cutout) fits tight control-panel real estate where a full 1/16 DIN unit won't fit — common on packaging machines, small ovens, and lab equipment. Self-tuning PID means the controller auto-calculates P, I, and D coefficients during initial heat-up, reducing commissioning time compared to manual tuning. Sixteen ramp/soak segments allow the controller to execute a multi-step thermal profile — e.g., ramp to 200 °C, soak for 30 minutes, ramp to 150 °C — without an external programmer. This is the feature that distinguishes the RAY2 variant from simpler on/off or single-setpoint controllers in the PXR3 family.
Deployment context
Panel-mounted in a 1/32 DIN cutout; wiring terminates on the rear screw-terminal block. The self-tuning algorithm and ramp/soak profile are configured via the front-panel buttons or optional PC software — no external PLC required for the profile logic.
