What this controller does on the line
It handles batch processes where the setpoint follows a profile — think oven cure cycles, autoclave ramps, or multi-zone heat treating. The self-tuning algorithm sets PID gains during the first ramp, so you don't have to manually calculate Kp, Ti, Td.
What the 16 ramp/soak segments mean for fit
Sixteen segments give you enough pattern steps for a multi-stage thermal profile — preheat, ramp to soak, hold, cool, repeat. That's more than a basic on/off controller can do, and it's the feature that decides whether this part replaces a PLC-based temperature ramp in a small machine. If your process needs fewer than 16 steps, the controller still works; the unused segments just sit idle.
