The Omron E2EW-X10B1D18-M1 is a shielded M18 proximity sensor that doesn't care whether the target is steel or aluminum—it picks up both at the same 10 mm range, so you don't have to derate for aluminum when you're mounting a weld fixture. The stainless steel (SUS303) housing and sensing face shrug off weld splatter and washdown, sealed to IP67. PNP normally-open output, M12 4-pin quick-disconnect, IO-Link COM2 for configuration or diagnostics if the bus supports it.
