Panel fit and field wiring
The Omron E5CC-QQ3D5M-003 is a 1/16 DIN process and temperature controller that drops into a standard 45.00 mm square panel cutout and secures with the included mounting bracket — no adapter plate needed for a fresh panel or a retrofit into an existing E5CC footprint. Screw-terminal connections are used. The front bezel is IP66-rated.
What the outputs and inputs actually do
Three relay outputs drive the primary control loop, alarm, or event functions — rated for switching contactors, solenoid valves, or indicator loads directly. Two additional voltage pulse outputs (for external SSRs) handle fast-cycle heater or cooling loads where relay life would be a concern. The universal input accepts RTD (Pt100, JPt100) and twelve thermocouple types (B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W) covering -200°C to 2300°C, plus 0-20 mA or 0-10 VDC linear process signals. That means one part number covers the sensor types you'd find on a plastics extruder, a packaging sealer, or a heat-treatment furnace — no variant swap needed. The heater fault detection feature monitors current draw on the load side and flags a broken heater or SSR short before the process drifts out of tolerance — a practical diagnostic for electric ovens and hot-runner systems where an undetected open element means scrap parts.
Control and communications
On/off or PID control method is selectable per loop. The RS-485 port speaks both Omron CompoWay/F and Modbus RTU.
