Universal input, mixed outputs for heater circuits
The Omron E5CC-QX3A5M-003 is a 1/16 DIN panel-mount process and temperature controller that accepts RTD, thermocouple (B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W), 0-20 mA, and 0-10 VDC inputs — covering the range from -200°C to 2300°C or standard process signals. The three relay outputs plus a voltage pulse output for an external SSR make this variant suited for heater circuits where you need both alarm/event relays and a solid-state drive signal for the power element. The IP66-rated front panel withstands washdown in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical lines — the seal is at the panel face, not the housing. The 45.00 mm x 45.00 mm square cutout matches the standard 1/16 DIN footprint, so it drops into existing panel holes without rework.
RS-485 Modbus and control loop options
RS-485 communications with both CompoWay/F and Modbus protocols are built in — no separate option card needed. This lets the controller report PV, setpoint, and status to a PLC or SCADA host over a standard serial bus. The control method supports On/Off or full PID, with the PID auto-tune feature typical of the E5CC series. Heater fault detection is included as a standard feature — the controller monitors current draw on the load side and flags a broken heater or SSR short before the process drifts out of tolerance. The dual-color LCD backlight shows the PV in 0.600" characters and the SV in 0.280", each row four digits.
