What this controller brings to the panel
The Omron E5CC-RX3A5M-606 is a panel-mount temperature controller from the E5CC series, built for process loops where a relay output and RS-485 communications are the baseline requirements. It accepts inputs from thermocouples (Types B, C, E, J, K, L, N, P, PLII, R, S, T, U) and linear signals (0~20mA, 0~10V), so it covers most common temperature sensors and process transmitters without an external signal conditioner. The relay output switches On/Off or proportional (PID) control signals to the load — typically a contactor or solid-state relay driving a heater or cooler. The RS-485 port supports Modbus RTU communication, letting a PLC or SCADA system read the process value, setpoint, and alarm status, and write new setpoints or tuning parameters. Supply voltage is 100~240VAC, which covers standard single-phase mains in most regions without needing a separate control transformer. The LCD display shows four characters per row in white characters, with a 0.710" (18.00mm) main display and a 0.433" (11.00mm) secondary row for the setpoint or other data.
The controller mounts in a square 45.00mm x 45.00mm panel cutout — the standard 1/16 DIN footprint. Screw terminals on the rear accept the power, sensor, and communications wiring; no special crimp tool or backplane connector is needed. Ingress protection is IP20 on the body (finger-safe, suitable for a clean panel interior) and IP50 on the front face (dust-protected). The event input feature (two event inputs on this model) allows external dry-contact signals to trigger preset actions — for example, switching between two setpoints, holding the PID loop, or resetting an alarm. This saves a PLC digital input when the action is simple and local.
