The Omron E5EC-CX4A5M-004 is a 1/4 DIN panel-mount process and temperature controller that accepts RTD and thermocouple inputs (types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W) plus 0-20mA or 0-10VDC linear signals, covering a span from -200°C to 2300°C. It drives loads through one analog output and four relay outputs, so you can send a retransmission signal to a recorder or PLC while switching heaters, alarms, or valves directly. The IP66-rated front panel holds up in washdown environments — food, beverage, or chemical lines where hose-down cleaning is routine.
Communications and control
RS-485 on screw terminals speaks both CompoWay/F and Modbus RTU, so it drops into existing Omron networks or any Modbus master without a gateway. Control method is On/Off or full PID with auto-tune — set it for a simple limit switch or dial in tight temperature regulation on an oven or extruder barrel. The tri-color LCD backlight shows four characters per row across three rows; the largest digits are 18mm high, readable from across a machine cell.
