What this controller handles
The E5EC-RX4DBM-011 is a 1/8 DIN temperature controller accepting RTD and thermocouple inputs (B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W) plus 0–20 mA or 0–10 VDC linear signals. That input range covers -200°C to 2300°C, so it spans cryogenic to high-temp furnace work without a separate signal conditioner. Five relay outputs handle the control loop and alarms. The control method is On/Off or proportional (PID), which is the standard choice for thermal processes where overshoot matters — plastic injection mold zones, packaging seal bars, or oven zones.
Panel fit and environmental sealing
Panel cutout is 92.00 mm x 45.00 mm — the standard 1/8 DIN footprint. The IP66 front-panel rating means the controller face withstands washdown spray and dust ingress, so it lives on the front of a food-grade or washdown enclosure without a secondary cover. Spring terminals on the back speed wiring — no screw torque to check, just strip and push. Supply voltage is 24 VAC/DC, which is common in control panels that already run 24 V for sensors and PLC I/O.
Heater fault detection and display
Built-in heater fault detection monitors the load current through an external CT and flags a broken heater element or SSR short. That's a real time-saver on a multi-zone machine — the controller tells you which zone dropped out instead of waiting for a temperature deviation alarm. The tri-color LCD backlight shows three rows of four characters each, with the largest digits at 0.710" (18.00 mm) for the process value. The operator sees the PV, SV, and status at a glance from across the panel.
